Description
Product Description Their debut release on Narnack Records! The ultimate party album-that is, if your idea of a party is losing your mind and dancing beyond recognition. Garage-rock sing-alongs for boys and girls who want to be men and women. Amazon.com Played on battered pawnshop instruments by a trio that would clearly benefit from the calming effects of a steady and generous supply of Ritalin, the Coachwhips' songs are at once disorienting and dynamic. The San Francisco group built their tremendous live reputation in their hometown by performing while immersed in the middle of the crowd, and they bring that kinetic, chaotic energy to Get Yer Body Next Ta Mine. It's not exactly garage rock. Rather, it's an infectious hybrid of distorted blues riffs, punk attitude, and ravenous dance grooves. Song titles like "I Put It In, Way Down South" and "UFO, Please Take Her Home" tell a big part of the story. Somewhere the late bluesman John Lee Hooker must be smiling. --Aidin Vaziri

This album is just straight-up RAW. Every little squeel of guitar and vocal feedback is right there to be heard in this decidedly lo-fi recording. And that's a good thing - very good. If you like energetic, noisy garage rock, pick this sucker up. The reason it gets 4 stars from me, however, is that it sometimes just overpowers me, forcing me to listen to something a bit more mellow before returning to the blasts of awesomeness that are the Coachwhips. Dig it.Also, if you like this, check out Pink and Brown (same singer/guitarist) and of course The Mummies (who were doing this stuff in the '80s!)
