I had heard about this book (and Kelly) after she was a guest on a podcast I listen to. I loved her no-nonsense approach to nutrition and the importance she places on balancing your hunger hormones and insulin response. The book takes a deep dive into the science behind the Fab 4 (protein, fat, fiber, and greens) and provides the reader with the science to back up her claims. I have my college degree in chemistry, and everything she explained was both true and accurate to the chemistry. The language in the book (besides the science) is very casual, and like having a conversation. Personally I love books like this, but I know some do not so heads up if that person is you!I have tried a number of the recipes-- the saucy paleo meatballs and shrimp tacos are absolute winners, as well as MANY of the smoothie recipes. The chia flax chicken tenders were a bit of a failure, but that might be on me as a cook!I really appreciate her mindful approach to nutrition, and knowing that real life is going to happen regardless of your diet. She really emphasizes the "this is a lifestyle" mentality, which is where most diets fail. I have been doing my best to focus my meals around the Fab 4, and taking recipe ideas and meals from the book, and I have seen great results so far. I feel slimmer, less bloated, less hungry, and am sleeping better. I don't weigh myself so I can't give an actual number amount but my jeans are looser and that's what counts.I would recommend this book to folks who want to learn the science behind regulating hunger hormones and insulin response, but with a dose of humor and realness. Thanks Kelly!
